Heather Flick is the Senior Partner at the Flick Group law firm and is of counsel at Dhillon Law Group. She is one of the pioneers of Strategic Business Counsel™ services, practicing business and corporate law with an emphasis on formation, purchase/sale transactions, contracts, general business advice, intellectual property protection and regulatory compliance. For 15 years she has acted as outside General Counsel to early-stage company founders and investors from “Day 1,” providing legal and business advice on strategic differentiation, IP protection, operational growth and exit — a process she calls, “From Idea to IPO™.” Heather is known as a lawyer’s lawyer, regularly representing prominent California attorneys, throughout the state, in their own transactions and disputes. Heather also advises candidates and committees on tactical election law and political strategy. She has worked for campaigns and recounts in California, Massachusetts, Minnesota and Illinois and has spoken at multiple election law seminars throughout the US.
Heather worked for two White House administrations, in the advance and political affairs offices, and has held several corporate board seats, including Citizens Bancorp, Inc. (acquired by Community First Bankshares, Inc. (CFBX) now BNP Paribas), throughout their acquisitions. An inventor, founder, investor and executive, herself, she brings a uniquely comprehensive strategic perspective to legal issues. She was granted U.S. Patent No. 8,631,800, has successfully filed and protected numerous US and internationally registered trademarks and brands, and she continues to provide ongoing trade secret protection in multiple industries.
Heather has lived in Beijing (where she studied law at China University of Politics and Law), Hong Kong, London, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco, and her commentary has appeared in the New York Times, the Financial Times, The New York Observer, San Francisco Chronicle, Marin Independent Journal, Sacramento Bee and on KRON and KTVU. She wrote the popular “Reality Check” column for TraderDaily.com and Dealmaker.com and remains a contributor to The New York Observer newspaper. She is a past board member of the St. Francis Yacht Club and the Republican National Lawyers Association. A competitive sailor, she has raced offshore worldwide in grand prix regattas including the Transpac, Fastnet Race, TP 52 World Championship, Newport-Bermuda, Pacific Cup, Hamilton Island, SORC, Middle Sea Race and Rolex Maxi Worlds.
