Podcaster and Filmmaker Robby Starbuck Sues Google, Alleging AI Spread Fabricated Murder and Child Abuse Accusations
Wilmington, Delaware – Dhillon Law Group, Inc. has filed a lawsuit on behalf of podcaster and filmmaker Robby Starbuck against Google LLC in the Delaware Superior Court. The lawsuit, filed Tuesday, October 22, 2025, alleges that Google’s AI platform, Gemini, generated and spread false and defamatory claims portraying Starbuck as a violent criminal and sexual predator, including fabricated accusations of murder and child rape.
The 46-page complaint details how Google’s AI fabricated entire narratives and fake news sources, going so far as to invent hyperlinks to articles that do not exist. In one instance, Google’s AI admitted its statements were “a deliberate, engineered bias designed to damage the reputation of individuals with whom Google executives disagree.”
Robby Starbuck said: “If you know me personally, then of course you know that none of these articles or claims are true … I certainly wasn’t accused of murder in 1991 when I was two years old. But if you aren’t familiar with my full biography or my age, then you’d have no reason to doubt anything Google’s AI was saying. So what’s happening here is that Google went out of its way to fabricate an entire story to damage my reputation and then fraudulently invented fake mainstream news stories as validation for Google’s lies.”
The lawsuit alleges that Google knowingly allowed its AI product to continue spreading defamatory lies despite being placed on repeated notice by Mr. Starbuck, his legal counsel, and even its own employees. According to the complaint, Google’s AI “delivered false and defamatory information about [Starbuck] to approximately 2.8 million unique users” as of the filing date.
“This case underscores the unprecedented danger posed when a trillion-dollar corporation deploys AI tools capable of destroying reputations in seconds and then refuses to take responsibility for the damage,” said Krista L. Baughman, Partner at Dhillon Law Group. “Free expression does not give license to fabricate criminal accusations about private citizens. AI companies must be held to the same standards of truth and accountability as any other publisher.”
The complaint seeks compensatory and punitive damages, as well as injunctive relief requiring Google to remove the false statements and implement safeguards to prevent future defamatory conduct.
