Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray, Dhillon Law Group Vigorously Defend Election Integrity Law, HB 156

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray, represented by prominent election attorneys at the Dhillon Law Group, are aggressively defending Wyoming’s HB 156, a voter registration law requiring proof of U.S. citizenship. Gray’s legal team has moved to dismiss a federal lawsuit filed by the Equality State Policy Center, calling the challenge baseless, speculative, and lacking constitutional standing.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming, seeks to block HB 156, claiming the new requirements could disenfranchise voters. In response, Secretary Gray and Dhillon Law Group have argued forcefully that HB 156 is essential to close existing loopholes and ensure only eligible voters participate in Wyoming’s elections.

“This lawsuit is nothing more than a desperate attempt by activists to weaken our elections by stopping common-sense voter protections,” said Secretary Gray. “Wyoming’s citizens deserve fair, transparent elections, and HB 156 ensures we deliver exactly that. We will fight tooth and nail against efforts to erode election integrity and invite voter fraud.”

Mark Meuser, attorney from Dhillon Law Group, emphasized that the law is constitutionally sound, and plaintiffs have failed to show even a single individual who would be disenfranchised.

“The opposition to HB 156 is relying purely on hypothetical scenarios without evidence or merit,” said Meuser. “Wyoming has every right—and indeed, an obligation—to protect its elections from fraud and ensure public confidence in the democratic process. This lawsuit should be seen for what it is: an attempt to politicize voter security at the expense of election integrity.”

Gray’s legal team further argues that HB 156 provides Wyoming voters with ample opportunity and support to comply with citizenship verification requirements.

The case is expected to attract significant national attention as it touches on broader debates surrounding voter fraud and election integrity laws.
